It came up so unexpected. In conversation during an afternoon beer I said “is that all it costs to get over there”
Next thing I knew I was booked and packed, up at an ungodly hour heading for the international airport.
Soon after that I was standing in water, forest closing in, huge mountains looking down on me and my fly rod in my hand.
How did I get to this place. Not the physical, the metaphysical.
It’s been a while since I joined a group of road trippers. It was nice to sit in the backseat and just take it in. The cool north island wind in my face, and plenty to take in.
We’d just stop on the way, hunt for treasure in old wares shops, look for mushrooms, and take plenty of photos of stuff.
We walked and explored.
I’m glad I went with my instincts and booked that flight. I really had a nice taste of New Zealand. It wasn’t the cities that wooed me, but mother nature.
Unlike other facets in life, she (mother nature) never lets me down. So I love her.
Beautiful shots Rohan. And well written to boot. Love following your adventures. From an Irish girl now living in Canada if you ever got the chance to visit one or both you you. Beautiful mother nature blows yer mind in both places too.
I want to visit both places actually!!! Both look right up my ally!
Hey Rohan, Did you get any trout? Love reading your blog, i am a country boy living in Sydney and it helps me deal with this city life…. Cheers.
Yes it sure is stunning countryside:)
Hi Rohan,
Beautiful shots (as usual). It also puts back the context of how far NZ is from you guys. Because I live on an island, off an island, off France, I tend to think of NZ as something similar. Great trip by the looks of things.
Best,
Conor
beautiful! mother nature has such an influence on the soul.
She specialises in normality.
That she does.
