For some unknown reason on Saturday morning I turned the TV over to the a Top 40 Hit List music video show. It was no surprise that there was scantly dressed woman rubbing up against men whilst ‘singing’. This is what popular music has come to. Sex and image. Cue Nicki Minaj – Super Bass. Oh and I’m always so inspired by such outstanding lyrics notably from Christina Perri “Your gonna catch a cold from the ice in your soul”…..outstanding and inspirational.
Whilst I’m not pulling out my hair listening to the best classic songs of 2011, I listen to music. Like with instruments and words and shit.
Bob Dylan – New Morning
Gillian Welch – The Harrow and the Harvest
Stephen Stills – Manassas
Willie Nelson – The Red Headed Stranger
Disclaimer: Yes I’m a grumpy old bastard.
Three words. William. Elliott. Whitmore. Look him up.
I’ll check him out!
I have been listening to the exact same discs lately (especially Gillian Welch), save Stills. Definitely inspired to find my Stills albums now as well!
Nice choices. Try some Iron and Wine too. (“Tree by the River” being one of my favourite songs)

Hello! I discovered your site a couple of weeks ago. Enjoying what I’ve read so far. I’m digging on the Opinel knife I’ve seen in several photos and now may have to acquire one for myself. Ryan Bingham has put out some good tunes. He’s earned a regular spot in the rotation for me. Good luck on your book and keep up the good work!
They make a good general purpose knife. I use it to harvest in the garden quite often to cut veg when preparing a meal. Easy to sharpen too. They must use good steel.
Truly love your blog, your photographs and descriptions of plain ol’ life make me goosebumply.
Can I recommend you listen to Willard Grant Conspiracy’s Regard The End. It is marvellous.
Thanks for the lovely comment!!!
I have heard of them, now I’ll check them out.
Descriptions of plain ol’life…..I like that. xo
